Ignorance Threatens the Republic

Share
I spoke to a friend of mine this morning about why her political views were described online as "other". She admitted that she wasn't really "into politics". The problem i have with this posture is that so many people who are not "into politics" go "into the poling booth" and cast uneducated votes.

May I recommend, as a basic basic basic introduction to the American Republic the following reading:
Declaration of Independence
Patrick Henry's Speech
University of Virginia's Compendium of Thomas Jefferson (searchable by topic)
Abraham Lincoln quotes
Red Skelton on The Pledge of Allegiance (includes original audio)
Foundations of the Constitution

For Advanced Readers consider:
The Federalist Papers
Men in Black
Almost a Miracle
An Enemy Hath Done This

When they are published, I will also place my own books here.

Please don't take your franchise lightly. Every time you cast an uneducated vote, we risk ending up with politicians who despise our freedom and prefer an establishment of tyranny.
